Undercover video of animal abuse at a dairy farm near Roswell has led to some changes.
Video of the scene at Winchester Farms surfaced in September. It showed people punching, kicking, and prodding cows.
At the time, Winchester supplied Leprino Foods of Denver. Now Leprino has decided to do things that could prevent such abuse in the future. These include giving cows pain relief medication for de-horning, more veterinary care, more education and training for its suppliers, and no more tail docking.
Mercy for Animals shot the video. Its director for corporate outreach describes the changes to KRQE-TV as “the most comprehensive animal welfare policy” that a major American dairy company has ever adopted.
