The community continues working to restore the Cavern Theatre in downtown Carlsbad.
The building opened its doors in 1951 as the place to go. Now it sits lifelessly.
The Carlsbad Current-Argus reports the city wants to renovate it. Someone has donated it to the city under the condition that it transforms into a performing arts center.
Now the city has assembled a task force to determine how to find money for the project.
The latest project estimate runs up to $4 million.
