Authorities say a small tornado briefly touched down five miles southwest of Roswell yesterday.
Residents say they saw a funnel cloud form as strong thunderstorms moved through during the afternoon.
The National Weather Service says a cool air mass and strong winds allowed for some brief funnel clouds to develop over much of the region.
County emergency managers say this particular twister destroyed a shed and wrapped a garage door around a utility pole, but no one reports any injuries.
The weather service also says Roswell set a new rainfall record on Monday.
