Underground air sampling results show more radiation at one WIPP station following the fire that shut down the plant last year.
The Carlsbad Current-Argus reports measurements at Station A have come back high, but similiar samplings at Station B have come back normal.
This means a particulate air filter between the two stations has captured the radiation.
Russell Hardy from the Carlsbad Environmental Monitoring and Research Center says workers continue decontamination activities at Station A’s Panel 7.
A fire and radiological release happened there last year.
