Janetta Hicks, who has been the District Attorney in our region for a few years, will be stepping down at the end of this month. She released the news to area media outlets over the weekend. In her announcement she stated and we are quoting, “After twenty-five years of public service, for personal and financial reasons, I have decided to step down,” end of quote. In her statement Hicks also said she was proud of the staff in her office and the hard work they have undertaken during her time in office. Hicks also says that Gov. Martinez will have the responsibility of finding a successor.
