City officials have started water line construction today in Roswell.
They have broken ground at Country Club Road and North Montana Avenue.
These upgraded water lines replace the concrete ones that date nearly a half-century.
These lines serve a third of the city on its north end.
The city first detected a leak in the old lines west of the intersection in January of last year. It applied and received a $2 million loan through the state environmental department for the project.
The project may finish at the end of September. Until it does, the intersection may close to traffic for extended periods at times.
