The governor has appointed a new district attorney for Chaves, Eddy, and Lea counties.
The Hobbs News-Sun reports she has named chief deputy district attorney Dianna Luce to the position.
Luce replaces the retiring Janetta Hicks.
She works out of Lea County, where she served as a magistrate from 2004 to 2008.
Luce has spent the last six years as chief deputy district attorney.
Hicks has decided to leave office after six years for personal and financial reasons.
