A longtime Ruidoso Police employee has sued the chief, the village, and the village manager.
Jonas Proctor says they violated the New Mexico Whistleblower Protection Act when they removed his supervisory and management authority.
Proctor has also accused them of failing to promote him and reducing his salary, among other things.
He calls all of this retaliation.
The Ruidoso News reports the suit claims the manager and chief cannot show their actions had to do with misconduct or poor job performance from Proctor.
It all follows an incident and associated report last year involving a public official. The suit shows as a result of the dispute over the report, a policy surfaced regarding the safety of “high profile public officials.”
