The sheriff has more information on Friday’s arrests near Roswell International Air Center.
Witnesses claimed 34-year-old Manuel Torres and 57-year-old Beatriz Torres allegely forcing a mentally handicapped girl into a car near the Allsup’s Store.
The two of them apparently took her to the family’s home on East Byrne, from which she had walked away.
The sheriff’s office case report shows a witness claiming Manuel Torres repeatedly punched the 16-year-old as Beatriz Torres drove.
The report also shows after the vehicle pulled into a driveway, Beatriz Torres hit the girl witha belt.
Manuel Torres has identified the girl as his niece. He says she left the house after receiving orders not to do so.
