A Roswell police officer has received the Carnegie Medal for Heroism.
Christopher King stands among 18 people nationwide after he rescued a woman from a burning home last year.
The police department says people could hear her calling for help from inside as it burned and spewed smoke.
King entered through a back door and found her in the corner. He dragged her out to the back porch.
The department says King collapsed and struggled to breathe because of the thick smoke.
They both went to a hospital, where King recovered from smoke inhalation. The woman died a few days later at another hospital.
