County sheriffs say a man fatally shot by officers was wanted by police after an alleged drug raid on his home. The Hobbs News-Sun reports that William Smith, who was nicknamed “Wild Bill,” had been on the run from authorities. Police say Smith was a passenger in a car that led police on a high-speed chase.
