A special commission meeting this Monday in Eddy County determines the final date for a public hearing on a tax increase.
The commission wants to pass the Hold Harmless Gross Receipts Tax ordinance.
This would increase taxes by a quarter-percent.
The increase could raise $10 million annually.
The Current-Argus reports the ordinance specifically dedicates this money to county roads.
The special meeting happens Monday at 1:30.
If the commission wants to impose the tax by New Year’s, then it must bring the ordinance to a vote by the end of September.
