Over 40 volunteers spent Saturday volunteering to keep the Pecos River clean.
Carlsbad beautification coordinator Mary Garwood said she noticed plastic six-pack rings and plastic bags contributing to litter in and around the river.
The Current-Argus reports that Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts helped clean up the River on Saturday.
The group did not find much litter by the flume in north Carlsbad, but the Lower Tansill area had plenty of it.
The brush had bottles, cans, Styrofoam cups, and candy wrappers where the water had spent the summer.
