LULAC wants Cesar Chavez holiday

The New Mexico League of United Latin American Citizens has made a Cesar Chavez national holiday a top priority.

LULAC has passed a handful of resolutions at its state convention in Roswell.

League members have tried to honor the labor rights leader lately. Members of the city council in Roswell withdrew their requests in March to have a street or building named after him.

This particular resolution from LULAC would make March 31 a national holiday.

The Roswell Daily Record reports another resolution involves access to voting locations by the disabled.
