DA’s office investigating incident involving son of police chief

The district attorney now decides whether or not to bring charges in a case involving the son of Roswell’s police chief.

Officers responded to an incident having to do with Phillip Smith.

The police department has reviewed the officers’ actions, and it has determined that they did not show favoritism or violate any policies.

Public information officer Todd Wildermuth says the review showed the police acted properly in determining whether or not they had “adequate legal probable cause to arrest anyone on scene that night.”

The DA’s investigation does not focus on the officers’ actions.
