A FORMER BOOK KEEPER EUNICE PUBLIC SCHOOLS FACES SERIOUS CRIMINAL CHARGES…ACCUSED OF STEALING MONEY FROM THE DISTRICT. ON FRIDAY, NEW MEXICO STATE POLICE ARRESTED KRISTEN McLEAN. SHE WAS BOOKED INTO THE LEA COUNTY DETENTION CENTER ON FOURTH DEGREE FELONY CHARGES OF EMBEZZLEMENT AND FRAUDULENT USE OF A CREDIT CARD. DETECTIVES SAY McLEAN HAS NOT COOPERATED IN THE COURSE OF THEIR INVESTIGATION.

I REACHED OUT TO THE NETWORK AS WELL AS WRITER AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER CARINA McKENZIE…WHO CONFIRMED SHE IS WORKING WITH THE CW. THE NETWORK ALSO CONFIRMED THE SCRIPT IS IN DEVELOPMENT…BUT DECLINED TO COMMENT. EARLY NEXT YEAR, THE CW COULD DECIDE TO BEGIN SHOOTING A PILOT FOR ROSWELL. IF THEY DO, THE NETWORK WILL DECIDE NEXT MAY WHETHER PICK IT UP FOR THE 2018-19 SEASON.

ROAD WORK THIS WEEKEND WILL LEAD TO SOME CLOSURES IN ROSWELL. THE CITY TELLS US PORTIONS OF EAST COUNTRY CLUB ROAD AND NORTH MAIN STREET WILL BE CLOSED WHIE SURFACE WORK IS BEING DONE. ON SATURDAY, EAST COUNTRY CLUB BOULEVARD WILL BE CLOSED BETWEEN NORTH MAIN STREET AND GARLAND AVENUE BETWEEN 7:30 AND 5. ON SUNDAY, CREWS WILL MOVE ON TO THE OUTER LANES NORTH MAIN STREET BETWEEN COLLEGE BOULEVARD AND COUNTRY CLUB ROAD. ONE LANE WILL REMAIN OPEN IN EACH DIRECTION. AT SOME POINT SUNDAY, WE’RE TOLD THE INTERSECTION OF MAIN AND 19th STREETS WILL BE TEMPORARILY CLOSED TO EASTBOUND AND WESTBOUND TRAFFIC.

Convenience Store Robbery Suspect to be Prosecuted for Violating Hobbs Act

AN ALBUQUERQUE MAN FACES FEDERAL CHARGES STEMMING FROM A CONVENIENCE STORE ROBBERY LAST WEEK IN BERNALILLO COUNTY. PROSECUTORS SAY 22-YEAR-OLD ERIC REDDICK VIOLATED BOTH THE HOBBS ACT AND FEDERAL FIREARMS LAWS WHEN HE SHOT THE STORE CLERK AND A WITNESS WHO WAS TAKING HIS PICTURE DURING THE ROBBERY. THE HOBBS ACT PROHIBITS ACTUAL OR ATTEMPTED ROBBERY OR EXTORTION AFFECTING INTERSTATE OR FOREIGN COMMERCE. REDDICK, WHO WAS ARRESTED THIS MORNING, IS BEING PROSECUTED UNDER THE FEDERAL “WORST OF THE WORST” ANTI-VIOLENCE INITIATIVE.
