Chaves County Deputies Move to Create Labor Union

CHAVES COUNTY DEPUTIES ARE INITIATING THE LEGAL PROCESS TO FORM THEIR OWN LABOR UNION. THE MOVE WOULD FOLLOW UNIONIZATION OF BOTH THE ROSWELL POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS. CHAVES COUNTY’S LABOR MANAGEMENT RELATIONS BOARD WILL CONSIDER THE DEPUTIES’ PETITION THURSDAY AFTERNOON DURING A SPECIAL MEETING CALLED TO DISCUSS THE MATTER. THE INTERNATIONAL UNION OF POLICE ASSOCIAITON, AFL-CIO ACTUALLY FILED THE PETITION SEPTEMBER 20th. IF IT HAPPENS, THE CHAVES COUNTY SHERFF’S OFFICE UNION WOULD HAVE ABOUT THREE DOZEN MEMBERS. THURSDAY’S LABOR MANAGEMENT RELATIONS BOARD MEETING IS SLATED FOR 5:30 P.M. IN COMMISSION CHAMBERS OF THE CHAVES COUNTY ADMINISTARTIVE CENTER IN ROSWELL.
