Las Cruces Youth Pastor Accused of Sexual Relationship With Teen

A YOUTH MINISTER FROM LAS CRUCES IS FACING FEDERAL CHILD SEX CHARGES. 30-YEAR-OLD STEPHEN MENDOZA ARELLANO IS AN ORDAINED MINISTER FOR THE APOSTOLIC ASSEMBLY CHURCH, WHO SERVES AS THE CHURCH’S DISTRICT OF NEW MEXICO YOUTH PASTOR. HE’S CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED PRODUCTION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY, ENTICEMENT OF A CHILD TO ENGAGE IN SEXUAL ACTIVITIY AND TRAVEL TO MEET A MINOR TO ENGAGE IN SEXUAL CONDUCT. FEDERAL PROSECUTORS SAY ARELLANO TRAVELED FROM LAS CRUCES TO EL PASO, TEXAS TO HAVE SEX WITH A 15 YEAR OLD GIRL. THE TWO ALLEGEDLY CONTINUED THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MAY AND AUGUST OF THIS YEAR. IF CONVICTED, ARELLANO FACES BETWEEN 15-AND-30 YEARS IN PRISON.
