Scam Alert Involving NM Senator

The New Mexico Attorney General is warning residents of a scam that has people impersonting elected officials. So far, complaints have involved mainly online communications. Thre alert was issued after a complaint received by the AG’s office from Senator Martin Heinrich. Heinrich said a constituent contacted him to report that he received messages via Facebook Messenger that appeared to be sent by Heinrich himself. The messages were soliciting information in exchange for a bogus grant. The resident was tipped off by the poor grammar of the message, along with several misspellings. However, the messages did have a picture of Heinrich and was clearly attempting to be seen as from him directly.
