Artesia City Employee Pay Restored From 2016 Cuts

It’s good news for Artesia city employees, who will receive some of their salary that was lost due to cuts made in 2016. In order to balance that year’s budget, the city council had to take drastic measures by making an across-the-board cut to city employee pay. A grant from a charitable organization later restored the pay, but only to police officers, firefighters and other first responders. At last week’s council meeting, budget director Bill Rogers recommended that the city begin restoring the salaries of all other employees who were affected during that 10-month period.
