Ribbon Cutting For Carlsbad Caverns Elevator System

The National Parks Service and employees at Carlsbad Caverns National Park celebrated the final completion of the elevator project this week. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held in honor of the long-awaited completion of the primary elevator system, which is three years overdue. The elevators can carry 16 people each down 75 stories below the ground into the underground cafeteria. From there, visitors can explore the cave and all of its formations.
