Eddy County Employees Getting 10% Payraises

The Eddy County Commission has approved an across-the-board 10 percent payraise for nearly every county employee. In Tuesday’ 4-1 vote, Commissioner John Henry was the only one who said no to the proposal. District 5 Commission Susan Crockett saidf the time has come for the county to give back to its employees, who on average, make less than other county employees across the state. She said the move will also help the county attract and retain good workers. The only two county employees that won’t receive payraises are County Manager and his assistant. Employees must have a satisfactory evaluation in order to get the one time payraise. As for the budget, the move is expected to cost the county about 2.3 million dollars annually.
