NEW MEXICO STATE POLICE SAY 34-YEAR-OLD ALEJANDRO CHAVEZ, OF ROSWELL, WAS SPEEDING IN A 2000 NISSAN WHEN HE REAR-ENDED A 2003 PETERBILT SEMI TRACTOR TRAILER ON HIGHWAY 285 NEAR MILE POST 90 SOUTH OF ROSWELL. I STIGATORS SAY DRIVER INATTENTION APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR IN THE CRASH AND CHAVEZ WAS NOT WEARING A SEAT BELT. ALCOHOL DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A FACTOR. THE DRIVER OF THE SEMI WAS UNINJURED.
