Occidental Petroleum To Host Job Fair Tomorrow

More word that the petroleum business is booming in the region. Houston-based Occidental Petroleum says it needs to fill as many as 40 positions at its new office in Carlsbad and Hobbs. A career fair will be held tomorrow at the Pecos River Village Conference Center. A news release says the company has already hired more than 70 workers and still needs more. Open positions include pumpers and production technicians, electrical technicians, and automation specialists. However, the company says it also needs well performance specialists, water automations specialists and a water management lead. Tomorrow’s career fair runs from 11am to 7pm.

NM Students Encouraged To Apply For Daniels Fund

New Mexico students are being encouraged to apply for the Daniels Fund to help pay for college. The fund is open to students entering college in New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. The application period runs through November 29th. The Daniels Scholarship Fund can be used at any accredited nonprofit college or university in the US and is available for four years, annually renewable. It is considered a “last dollar” scholarship fund, which covers the unmet need of the student after all other financial aid resources have been applied. WITHIN HOURS A WOMAN WAS DROPPED OFF AT EASTERN NEW MEXICO MEDICAL CENTER WITH A GUNSHOT WOUND. WHOEVER DROPPED HER OFF LEFT THE HOSPITAL BEFORE CHAVES COUNTY DEPUTIES ARRIVED TO INVESTIGATE. THE WOMAN’S CONDITON IS UNKNOWN. INVESTIGATORS HAVEN’T SAID ANYTHING ABOUT A SUSPECT OR A MOTIVE IN EITHER SHOOTING. THEY DO NOT APPEAR TO BE CONNECTED.
