THE ROSWELL PRISONER OF WAR CAMP OFFICIAL SCENIC HISTORIC MARKER IS IMMEDIATELY SOUTH OF THE INTERSECTION OF ORCHARD PARK ROAD AND US 285. ROSWELL CITY COUNCILOR STEVE HENDERSON AND LOCAL HISTORIAN DALE ECK SUBMITTED THE APPLICATION AN BACKGROUND RESEARCH TO THE NEW MEXICO HISTORIC PRESERVATION DIVISION. IT WAS APPROVED BY THE CULTURAL PROPERTIES REVIEW COMMITTEE. THE NEW MEXICO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORATION FUNDED, INSTALLED AND WILL MAINTAIN THE MARKER. THERE’S A DEDICATION CEREMONY PLANNED FOR THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13th AT 1-30 IN THE AFTERNOON.

Carlsbad Police Release Name Of Homicide Victim

Carlsbad Polcie have released the name of the man shot to death last week at a home on West Fiesta Drive. Lieutenant Jamie Balencia says Joe Nanez died shortly after arriving at Carlsbad Medical Center. Detectives have interviewed several people in relation to the case and Balencia says they do believe Nanez knew the gunman. It is not known if there has been an arrest made, but anyone with information on the case is asked to call Carlsbad PD at 575-885-2111.
