OFFICERS WERE DISPATCHED TO ARTESIA GENERAL AT 11-38 THURSDAY MORNING…AFTER AN EMPLOYEE AT THE HOSPITAL RECEIVED AN EMAIL INDICATING THAT A BOMB WOULD BE SET OFF UNLESS ELECTRONIC FUNDS WERE TRANSFERRED. THE HOSPITAL WAS PLACED ON LOCKDOWN DURING THE INCIDENT.
POLICE SWEPT THE BUILDING AND THERE WERE NO EXPLOSIVE DEVICES FOUND. INVESTIGATORS SAY PATIENTS WERE NEVER IN ANY DANGER. THERE WAS NO PROPERTY DAMAGE OR INJURIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE INCIDENT. THE LOCKDOWN…LIFTED AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR. DETECTIVES ARE NOW WORKING TO IDENTIFY THE PERSON WHO SENT THE EMAIL.
