BLM Releases Figures for Quarterly Oil and Gas Lease Sale

WE’RE LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT’S QUARTERLY OIL AND GAS LEASE SALE. DARRELL MOODY HAS THE DETAILS…

FOR THIS SALE, THE BLM OFFERED LEASES ON 45 PARCELS TOTALING CLOSE TO 14-THOUSAND ACRES IN NEW MEXICO AND OKLAHOMA. THE HIGHEST BID PER ACRE WAS 40-THOUSAND 4-HUNDRED AND-11 DOLLARS SOLD TO X-T-O HOLDING, LLC FOR 80 ACRES IN EDDY COUNTY. THE SAME 80 ACRES RESULTED IN THE HIGHEST BID PER PARCEL AT JUST OVER 3.2-MILLION DOLLARS. THE BLM AWARDS OIL AND GAS LEASES FOR A TERM OF TEN YEARS AND AS LONG AFTERWARD AS THERE IS PRODUCTION OF OIL AND GAS IN PAYING QUANTITIES.

NORTH GARDEN AVENUE BETWEEN 21st AND 23rd STREETS WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY SO A BROKEN SEWER LINE SERVING A CHURCH CAN BE REPAIRED. TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SPACE FOR WORKERS, DRIVERS ARE BEING ASKED TO DETOUR AT 19th STREET ON THE SOUTH END OF THE WORK ZONE…AND AT COUNTRY CLUB ROAD AT THE NORTH END OF THE WORK ZONE. PART OF THE ROADWAY WILL NEED TO BEXCAVATED SO CREWS CAN ACCESS THE SEWER LINE. THE WORK SHOULD BE DONE AND THE ROAD REOPENED BY 5 O’CLOCK NEXT FRIDAY NIGHT.

BLM Land Sale Scheduled For September

The public scoping period for a scheduled September BLM land sale will begin in April. The September sale was announced by the BLM last week. Public scoping will begin April 1st and last about two weeks. The sale is tentatively scheduled for September 5th, according to a BLM news release. This sale will feature parcels of land in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Kansas. Three parcels are in Eddy County, nine in Lea County and one each in Chaves and McKinley Counties.

Latest On Bizarre Shooting Incident At Lake Avalon

Eddy County authorities continue investigating a shooting incident that took place on March 18th at Lake Avalaon. A suspect has not been identified, according to a statement from Crimestoppers of Eddy County. The statement says the shooting may not have been intentional, but detectives continue investigating every lead. Stories are not making a lot of sense, according to Captain Matt Hutchinson. At this point, they know that the victim, identified as Valerie Fierro, was apparently driving around the lake, but stopped when she recognized a vehicle. SHe got out of her car and began talking to the driver. She ten reported that someone grabbed her from behind and shot her in the leg. That person drove Fierro to the hospitalto get treatment, but then fled the scene. Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers anonymously at 575-887-1888.

THE FRIENDS ARE LOOKING FOR ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS TO HELP INITIATE FUNDRAISING, ORGANIZE EVENTS, COLLECT DONATIONS, MANAGE MEMBERS AND ACHIEVE OTHER GROUP OJECTIVES. PARTICIPATION IN MEETINGS IS CRUCIAL TO ENSURE THE SUCCESS OF BOTH THE FRIENDS GROUP AND THE ZOO ITSELF. FOR NOW, MEETINGS ARE HELD ON THE FOURTH THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH.
