THE 11th ANNUAL FALL-A-PALOOZA IS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19th FROM 10-TO-2 AT THE BEACH BAND SHELL AREA. THE FREE EVENT WILL INCLUDE OBSTACLE COURSES, INFLATABLES, BOUINCE HOUSES, A PETTING ZOO, PONY RIDES, GAMES, FACE PAINTING AND FREE POPCORN. WE’RE TOLD FOOD VENDORS WILL ALSO BE ON HAND SELLING FOOD. ADMISSION IS FREE, BUT ORGANIZERS WILL BE ACCEPTING CANNED FOOD DONATIONS FOR JONAH’S HOUSE.

Artesia Brothers Arrested For August Burglary

Two Artesia brithers have been arrested in relation to a burglary case. 19 year-odl Jonathan Bravo and 18 year-old Jesus Bravo are jailed in Eddy COunty and charged with commercial burglary, criminal damage to property, conspiracy to commit burglary, tampering with evidence, and possession of burglary tools. Artesia Poclie say teh case dates back to August 24th when the Artesia Family Welness Center at 412 West Main Street was broken into. Poclie said they were able to recover DNA samples from a hammer that was left at the scene. Surveillance video showed the two men trying to break open a door with that hammer.

Carlsbad Albertsons Receives Liquor License Transfer

Construction on the new Albertsons Market store in Carlsbad is said to be on schedule. The store is located across from the cuirrent building at 808 North Canal. The new store will be almost 40 percent larger than the current store, according to David Beaty, the store director. Beaty addressed the Carlsbad City COuncil this week to ask for a transfer of the businesses liquor license. The council approved the request unanimously.

Chaves County Man Dies from Wasp Stings

A 62-YEAR-OLD CHAVES COUNTY MAN DIED MONDAY…A DAY AFTER BEING STUNG BY MULTIPLE WASPS. SHERIFF MIKE HERRINGTON SAYS THE VICTIM WAS ATTACHING A CHAIN TO A FALLEN TREE NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF EAST McGAFFEY AND LIPAN ROAD. THE MAN APPARENTLY ADJITATED THE WASPS AND THEY STUNG HIM SEVERAL TIMES. HE WAS RUSHED TO A HOSPITAL AND SPENT SUNDAY NIGHT IN INTENSIVE CARE BEFORE DYING FROM HIS INJURIES. RESIDENTS ARE NOW BEING WARNED NOT TO DISTRUB ANDY WASP OR BEE HIVES FOUND IN THE AREA.

THE FAIR OPENS MONDAY WITH A PARADE THROUGH DOWNTOWN ROSWELL. A PORTION OF MAIN STREET WILL BE CLOSED AROUND 9-30 AND TRAFFIC WILL BE DETOURED AROUND THE PARADE ROUTE…WHICH TRAVELS SOUTH ON MAIN STREET FROM COLLEGE BOULEVARD. PARKING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ALONG THE ROUTE. THE PARADE IS EXPECTED TO TAKE TWO HOURS. SOME CITY OF ROSWELL OFFICES AND FACILITIES WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 10 AND ONE SO EMPLOYEES CAN ATTEND THE PARADE.
