GOP LAWMAKERS SENT A LETTER TUESDAY TO NEW MEXICO HOUSE SPEAKER BRIAN EGOLF…CALLING FOR HIS COMMITMENT TO ENHANCING TRANSPARENCY IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES…SUGGESTING THREE RULE CHANGES FOR THE GOVERNING BODY…GIVING WHAT THEY CALL GREATER ACCESS FOR VOTERS TO THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS. THE FIRST WAS FROM THE ARREST OF A 19-YEAR-OLD ON AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AND OTHER CHARGES. DEPUTIES ALSO CONFISCATED A 9MM HANDGUN, SEVERAL CLIPS AND BULLETS. 51-YEAR-OLD BRANDON CHANGLER…SUING THE EDDY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE FOR AN INCIDENT THAT HAPPENED AT HIS HOME ON OCTOBER 17th, 2017…AFTER A WOMAN IDENTIFIED AS DEANA ZAPATA REPORTED BEING HELD CAPTIVE. IN THE SUIT, CHANDLER CLAIMS DEPUTIES SHOCKED HIM WITH A TASER WITHIN SECONDS OF ARRIVING AT HIS DOOR. THE SUIT GOES ON TO EXPLAIN THAT ZAPATA FILED A FALSE POLICE REPORT…FOR WHICH SHE WAS CHARGED. THOSE CHARGES WERE DROPPED BACK IN FEBRUARY. CHANDLER WAS ARRESTED FOR VIOLATING THE TERMS OF HIS PROBATION AND SPENT 14 MONTHS BEHIND BARS. THERE’S NO WORD ON WHETHER THE JUDGE HAS SCHEDULED A HEARING FOR CHANDLER’S LAWSUIT.
