Report: More homelessness in Carlsbad because of oil struggles

With the oil industry having trouble, officials in Carlsbad see an increase in homeless people.

The Current-Argus reports the region’s residents have fallen on hard times with low oil prices.

The Carlsbad Transitional Housing and Homeless Shelter says 170 homeless adults live in the city.

Carlsbad Municipal Schools have 240 children with temporary housing addresses.

The city council has voted to contribute $310,000 to upcoming affordable housing projects.
