RPD officer still on leave following fatal shooting

Roswell Police say the officer who fatally shot a man Saturday night remains on administrative leave.

The department says it happened after the man pointed a gun at three officers.

It has identified the man as 33-year-old Robert Guerin.

The department has only described the officer as someone who has worked for it for five years.

Police say Guerin refused to drop his weapon during a standoff.

Officers had responded to a pickup driving erratically, and someone in the truck pointing a gun from it.

They say Guerin ultimately drove into the driveway of his residence on South Aspen Avenue.

After a passenger got out of the pickup, police say Guerin got out of it carrying a shotgun.

They claim officers spent 20 minutes trying to negotiate with Guerin before the shooting.
