Injured Roswell Firefighter Returns Home

AFTER NEARLY A MONTH IN THE HOSPITAL, A ROSWELL FIREFIGHTER IS BACK HOME. DARRELL MOODY HAS THE DETAILS..

FIREFIGHTERS ROBERT BONHAM AND JEFF STROBLE WERE CRITICALLY INJURED JUNE 5th IN A FIREWORKS MISHAP AT THE ROSWELL AIR CENTER. ON SATURDAY, THE 36-YEAR-OLD BONHAM, WHO GOES BY “HOBY,” FINALLY RETURNED TO HIS HOME IN ROSWELL FOLLOWING TWO SURGERIES AND WEEKS OF THERAPY AT A HOSPITAL IN LUBBOCK. STROBLE REMAINS IN LUBBOCK WHERE HE CONTINUES TO RECOVER AND UNDERGO TREATMENT. ROSWELL’S FIRE CHIEF RELEASED A WRITTEN STATEMENT TO THE COMMUNITY LAST WEEK..THANKING RESIDENTS FOR THEIR PRAYERS.

Pine Lodge Fire Grows To 12K Acres

The Pine Lodge FIre grew to more than 12-thousand acres Thursday. The wildfire burning in the Lincoln National Forest was moving closer to the rural community of Arabela. Fire managers said the flames on Wednesday had moved to about two miles northwest of the community. The fire was 11 percent contained as of late Thursday and fire managers say they continue to be hopeful that monsoonal activity will ultimately control the fire in the wilderness. The fire was first reported on June 19th on Boy Scout Mountain in the Capitan Wilderness Area.. The cause is not known. Highway 246 remains closed between Roswell and Capitan.
