35-YEAR-OLD DANIEL LOWELL PLEADED GUILTY TO A TOTAL OF EIGHT CHARGES…ADMITTING TO FLEEING FROM AN IMMIGRATION CHECKPOINT ON I-10 IN A STOLEN CAR WITH 32-YEAR-OLD TRISTA SCHLAEFLI. HE EVENTUALLY WRECKED THE CAR. FROM THERE THE TWO CARJACKED A FAMILY AND ENDED UP CRASHING THAT CAR INTO A MAN ON A MOTORCYCLE WHILE RUNNING FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT. THE MAN ON THE MOTORCYCLE DIED. THERE WAS ANOTHER CARJACKING ATTEMPT AFTER THAT CRASH, BUT THE DRIVER RESISTED. LOWELL AND SCHAELEFLI WERE EVENTUALLY TAKEN INTO CUSTODY. SHE’S ALREADY PLEADED GUILTY FOR HER PART AND AWAITS SENTENCING. LOWELL COULD GET LIFE IN PRISON.
