Man Arrested For February Shooting In Roswell

A local man charged with shooting another man in early February was arrested Tuesday afternoon (March 2) at a residence in the 700 block of East Third Street. As part of the investigation to locate Jerry John Barrera Jr., detectives with the Roswell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division received information indicating Barrera was possibly at the East Third Street location Tuesday. Detectives and officers were able to locate Barrera at the residence and without incident serve him with the arrest warrant in connection with the Feb. 7 shooting that occurred about 9:40 a.m. near the intersection of South Richardson Avenue and West Deming Street. The investigation determined the shooting may have resulted because Barrera and the victim previously had some sort of conflict about a PlayStation
video-game system, although specific details of the conflict remain unclear.
