Roswell UFO Festival Ready For Return

The Roswell UFO Festival has been around for a quarter of a century, and as it prepares to welcome UFO enthusiasts and many other visitors back to town after a pandemic-forced year off, the slate of festival activities features a variety of events, including a parade, arts and crafts fair, races for runners and walkers, a pool-based dance party, outdoor movies, and an outdoor concert featuring New Mexico’s own Chevel Shepherd.

This year’s UFO Festival will take place July 2-4 with the various activities happening at different sites throughout
Roswell and a multitude of vendors scheduled to be part of the festivities. The festival recognizes the 1947 incident that many believe involved a UFO, with one or more not-of-this-world visitors on board, crashing on a ranch in the Roswell area.

The full weekend of activities will wrap up with the City of Roswell’s July 4th Celebration on Independence Day. The free event at Cielo Grande Recreation Area (1612 W. College Blvd.) will feature a concert by Bad Moon Rising – a Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute band – followed by a laser show featuring the entertainment group “The Dancing Fire.” There will also be food trucks, jolly jumpers and face painting.
