Man Threatens To Blow Up Chaves County Jail

Chaves County Detention Center called 911 after a male, Victor Sosa (1/29/84) walked into the lobby of the detention center with a medium sized cylinder object (like a scuba tank) and set it in the lobby and made a statement about the building blowing up and left the building.
He drove away in a white pickup but did not make it very far until he turned eastbound into a field where CCSO deputies stopped the truck and took Sosa into custody.
NMSP EOD (Explosion Ordinance Techs) where called in to examine the device and determine if it was live. Some where called in from Santa Fe and Albuquerque, once they arrived they determined the device to be enerte (not explosive) and deemed their to be no threat to the detention center.
Victor Sosa has been since booked into the same detention center he tried to blow up on multiple charges.
