Eddy County is trying to prepare future firefighters with the tools and experience they need to hit the ground running when they’re hired. Chief Joshua Mack said Friday that Eddy County’s 12 fire districts are looking for volunteers to help cover more than 4-thousand square miles of the county that are not served by paid firefighters from Carlsbad or Artesia.
