The Chaves County Sheriff has identified the man killed in a deputy-involvbed shooting as 35 year-old David Luis Aguilera. Deputies had responded to the report of a disorderly subject late Sunday night at a dairy on East Jackson Road near the Eddy County line. Initital reports were that the man was trying to steal a tractor. When the first deputy arrived, Aguilera immediately began fighting, but had been placed in handcuffs. Somehow, Aguilera slipped the cuffs and attempted to get into the front of a patrol cruise, where deputy’s keep weapons. There was another struggle, and Aguilera was shot and killed, accoreding to SHeriff Mike Herrington.
