Artesia Police continue to ask for the public’s assistance in finding a man wanted for his involvement in a shooting on November 25th that led to an Amber Alert. That Saturday morning, APD responded to West Cannon Avenue and North 8th Street after neighbors reported hearing gunshots. The officers arrived and found Carlos Renteria had been shot multiple times. The investigation determined that Renteria had been involved ina fight in front of his home with a man identified as 54 year old Ricky L. Ellis. During the fight, both men pulled guns and fired at each other. However, Ellis was said to be inside his black Dodge pickup truck during the shooting, with his 2 year old daughter with him. Thankfully, the girl was later found at a home in Carlsbad, but Ellis continued to flee and has not been found. You can see his picture on the Artesia Police Department Facebook page.
