An alternative entrance will be in use at the Roswell Museum during construction that will make significant
enhancements to the entryway, lobby and surrounding area at the front of the museum.
Demolition of the museum’s main entrance and adjacent interior area on the south side of the building are
scheduled to begin Tuesday, April 23. The temporary entrance will be through the Robert H. Goddard
Planetarium on West 11th Street. Visitors can park on North Richardson Avenue and West 11th Street. Parking
will also remain available in the main parking lot on the south side of the building and visitors will have to walk
around to the temporary entrance on the north side. Signage will be posted to help guide visitors during the
renovations. Classes, planetarium shows and galleries will be accessible from the temporary entrance, which is
expected to be in use until the end of May and then intermittently until construction is completed in the fall.
The renovation project, which aims to create a more welcoming and accessible environment for visitors, will
build a new museum store at the front of the museum (replacing the store currently at the back of the
museum), update the lobby and security area, and install epoxy terrazzo flooring in the south and north
corridors. Funding for this project is provided through state appropriations.
There is also additional construction set to take place on the north side of the building from around May 1 until
mid-June, which will require the temporary closure of some galleries.
