One of Artesia’s busiest streets is due for a major facelift. Smith Engineering has been awarded the contract for the rebuilding of 26th Street from West Main Street to West Hermosa Drive. Constructions is expected to last at least a year and a half and includes the installation of new sidewalks and walking paths, sewer and water lines, and curbs and gutters. The project is expected to begin by the end of this summer and will run in five separate phases. Phase one will begin from Main Street to just north of Grand Avenue.
