Artesia Rec Center Foundation To Sue NM CID Over EV Charging Station Requirement

The Artesia Recreation Center Foundation has filed a complaint and lawsuit against the New Mexico Construction Industries Division, alleging a requirement to include 36 EV charging stations in it’s parking lot have created undue burdens and roadblocks to its development, which it says the community overhwlemingly supports.

The Artesia Rec Center claims the requirement will significantly raise the cost of the new rec center development. The rec center is being built on privately owned land that will be donated to the city once the facility is complete. The foundation says the 36 charging station requirement lacks consideration for local needs and practical realities.
