Wonders on Wheels will be rolling into town as part of the Roswell Museum’s Second Saturday Community Art Day on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Roswell Public Library. Wonders on Wheels, also referred to as WOW, is a mobile museum program of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs housed in an RV that brings exhibits to communities throughout New Mexico drawn from DCA’s state-run museums and monuments.
This year’s traveling exhibit, Eight Sites, One History: Explore the Past at New Mexico Historic Sites highlights the state’s diverse sites. New Mexico Historic Sites is a division of New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs and includes eight sites throughout the state. These sites invite people to immerse themselves in history by walking the same ground as ancient indigenous communities, infamous outlaws, and other renowned historical figures.
WOW will be on view from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., parked on the west side of the library on the corner of West Fourth Street and North Pennsylvania Avenue. Second Saturday activities will be inside the library’s Bondurant Room from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a collage activity making creepy spiders and snails with patterned papers.
All ages are encouraged to participate in these free activities. More information about this event and future Second Saturdays, which take place each second Saturday of the month, can be found under the “Events” tab at roswellmuseum.org. Second Saturdays are scheduled at the Roswell Public Library, located at 301 N. Pennsylvania Ave., throughout 2025, as part of the museum’s flood-recovery efforts.
