The Eddy County Commission has approved millions of dollars in housing funding for various municipalities in the county. During last week’s special meeting, the board voted to move forward with the Municipal Housing Partnership Initiative, which allocates about 15 million dollars to efforts led by Carlsbad, Artesia, Loving and Hope – to create new affordable housing projects. Each municipality will first propose projects to the county commission, with the goal of being awarded a portion of the funding. The commission will consider each proposal on a case-by-case basis, closely analyzing each proposal to ensure any approved funding would be used to their maximum potential.
