Artesia police have positively identified human remains that were found three years ago as belonging to a homeless man who had been released from jail. The skeletal remains of 53 year old John Littleton were found September 29th near the railroad tracks in the 300 block of North 1st Street in Artesia. A train conductor with BNSF made the discovery. Artesia Police announced Wednesday that the autopsy remains open.
