The Drug Enforcement Administration along with the Artesia Police Department has scheduled another National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day which will take place on Saturday from 10:00 that morning to 2:00 that afternoon at the Artesia Police Department booth at the Child Safety Fair at Guadalupe(Guad as in Quad -uh-lou-pay) Park. APD Spokesman Commander Lindell Smith says this Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposal, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. Items accepted are: prescriptions, prescription patches, pet medications, ointments, over the counter medications, vitamins and samples. He says items that may be disposed of in proper provided containers are: used and unused sharps. He adds the service is free and anonymous with no questions asked.
