RPD SWAT Team Shows Skills At Competition

Members of the Roswell Police Department SWAT
Team competed in October in the Texas Tactical Police Officers Association’s SWAT Competition in Conroe, Texas.
RPD was the only department from New Mexico participating in the Oct. 6-9 competition that featured 30 teams.

The team-oriented competition consisted of eight events during the four days with most events focusing on physical fitness and shooting skill. Results of each event were based on a variety of factors, including teamwork and response times to the presented situation or objective. The Roswell
SWAT Team finished 11th overall, including placing eighth in the event of Tower Scramble and ninth in Rocky’s Run (a course dedicated to a fallen officer). RPD also had 12th-place showings in Obstacle Course, Bus Assault and Hostage Rescue.

The Roswell SWAT (Special Weapons
and Tactics) members who took part in this competition are Narcisso Santillan, Trong Nguyen, Brandon Stroud, Garrett Dollar, Brian Jefferson, Ryan Craine and Scott Wrenn. The team won 3,000 rounds of ammunition.
