The New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department is seeking more funding in order to resume work on the Carlsbad Brine Well remediation project. Wpork stopped on the project last July when the money ran out. It’s estimated that an additional 18 million dollars is needed to finish the project. In all, the project is estimated to cost about 54 million dollars. WHile the south portion of the well is described as stable, the north portion remains unstable and only partially backfilled.
