Suspect In Custody; Awaiting Formal Charges In Roswell Shooting

A local man is being held in Roswell Police Department custody Thursday afternoon (July 8) as part of an investigation that has determined him to be the suspected
shooter who killed another local man whose body was found early Thursday morning outside a residence in the southeast part of the city.

The body of the victim of the fatal shooting, Robert Lollis, 30, was discovered by RPD officers on the front porch of a house in the 1100 block of East Poe Street. Officers responded to the location around 4:25 a.m. after a caller requested police, but would not give specifics of the situation being reported.

Medical personnel were called to the scene and confirmed Lollis was deceased. He had multiple gunshot wounds.
The RPD investigation quickly identified the potential suspect, who was located and taken into investigative custody by early Thursday afternoon. As the investigation continues, an RPD detective will be working on obtaining an arrest warrant for the detained suspect.

Investigators believe the shooting occurred as a result of a conflict between the shooter and victim regarding a woman both were dating.
