Task Force Seizes Narcotics Worth $35K

The Chaves County Metro Narcotics Task Force seized narcotics with an estimated street value of $35,000 during an investigation at a residence in south Roswell Tuesday (Oct. 26).

Agents with the multi-agency task force that includes RPD responded to the house in the 800 block of West Jaffa Street to assist the New Mexico Adult Probation and Parole Office
(APPO). APPO was conducting a large-scale operation in Roswell doing random house checks of subjects who are on probation and parole to ensure they are abiding by their conditions of release. When APPO did a house check of Christopher Jones, 29, who is on felony probation, a large amount of narcotics and cash was discovered.

The Chaves County Metro Narcotics Task Force was contacted to handle the formal investigation. A search warrant was obtained and executed on the residence, resulting in task force agents seizing more than four pounds of high-grade marijuana, more than two ounces of heroin, more than 1,000 fentanyl pills, and an ounce of cocaine – narcotics totaling an estimated $35,000 in street value. Also seized were a firearm, $16,621 in cash, and other narcotics-related items.

Federal charges are pending for Jones, who is being held at the Chaves County Detention Center on an arrest hold from APPO for violating conditions of his probation.
